tastes like … buuuurning
Finally got around to posting some pictures of a fire that consumed enough of the 3rd apt. in my building to make it uninhabitable (the apt., not the building :). The fired happend last Friday during the afternoon; thankfully no body was injured. The whole building still smells of smoke though — it won’t go away until everything that has been burned is removed.
It was a bit eerie walking around the apt. — a bit like a ghost town. Much of the stuff is coated in soot and ash. Apparently most of the windows were closed, so the rooms acted more like a sauna. Sun Realty, the overseers of the building, never had to deal with a fire before in all their 30+ years as a predominantly Western lifestyle providing housing operation. Unfortunately their inexperience is making the recovery process a little more burdensome than one would hope.
Anyways….poor plants. And CD collection….

So, how did you manage to just walk through some stranger’s apartment snapping pics?

Right, I should have been a bit clearer. My grandfather owns the land/building, so I occasionally help him with odd jobs. He wanted a few pictures snapped for reference. All the tenants are foreigners (rent rates in this neighborhood are mostly only manageable on expat-packages), so I sometimes help with the language dealings as well.
I’ll try and put captions up soon; some of those pics don’t make a whole lot of sense I guess — like that very first one; who would’ve guessed it’s a mobile phone with camera attached? :)

i know you took the pictures for your grand father but posting them on your blog is another… hence, questionable before.
OR, did you just want everyone here to see the pictures so if there’s a claim that you “altered” the pictures, we’d vouch for you? :)
anyways, you’re still staying in your place?! even if it stinks that bad?! i always thought you hated club smoke… :-)

It is obviously the season for fires – I posted last month about the fire which burned down most of my neighbourhood. It was in the middle of the night, and unfortunately, one lady was killed.
