Calm, after the storm

Today was definitely a challenge — the weather was bleak, with temperamental rain mixed with warm stale air; not exactly encouraging customers to spend their hard-earned cash. Most of the day was spent explaining product details to first-timers in Japan, only to have them say they would have to consult with their “resident technician” first. About 3-4 potential customers were looking into fairly large purchases, and at least one assured me they would be returning by the end of this week to complete the purchase. I guess we’ll see how good a boy I was in a few days…

Where are you salesman? In Akihabara, In Laox? I need a new computer, or maybe two computers (a laptop and a mini notebook). I really have a big disappointed with salesmen in Japan. There are not capable of selling anything or even explaining basic things. UsuallyI find out myself what I need, and then I yell in the salesman’s ears: “I want to buy this, NOW!” or they wouldn’t even sell it to me. Are you different? Apparently, yes. I will come to see you, if you tell me where you are doing your SONY sales training.

Imagine that — sales through my own blog :) I guess I will have to spill the beans. Yes, I’m in a Laox in Akihabara — I’m on the 6th floor of the main building (*not* the Duty Free shop). I’m usually over in the video camera corner, but I roam the whole floor, so I can definitely hook you up with a laptop and toys. Sony is coming out with a few updates on the notebook line next week, so if you can swing by except Mondays and Thursdays, which are my days off, I’ll be happy to help you out. Cheers

That’s perfect. I will visit Laox Saturday or Sunday 28/29 June. Probably during morning hours to avoid the crowd. Hope to see you!

What sort of mad crazy discounts can a homie score through a connection like you?
It’s too bad Sony uses crap for LCDs in their equipment. They should hook up with that bitchin’ firm Samsung and truly hook a brotha’ up!

Chris: there is a rumored reason as to why Sony is slowing their LCD efforts. The acronym is OLED. That’s as much as I feel safe stating :)
Oh yeah, and Samsung is “the enemy”. We don’t give business to enemies :)
