Am I an ’80s boy?
I picked up Cornelius’ new album, CM2 a few weeks ago during a stroll through Tower Records in Shibuya, and found a new (to me, anyways) group that I find hilarious. CM2 is a remix album of a number of popular songs, old and new, but one of my favorites is Garigari-kun by Denki Groove. After finding out a bit of their history, I went out and picked up Orange and Vitamin (scroll down). Apparently Vitamin is a Japan-only release, which is too bad because I prefer it. One actually has to understand Japanese to get the full effect (at least humorously), but it definitely brings back memories of the early techno-pop days.
Speaking of which, I picked up Kraftwerk’s latest single Tour de France 2003. It’s actually quite good; I hesitated at first because of a Japanese warning label stating that it would not be playable on a Mac due to “copy protection measures”. I decided to take my chances, which was a good move since it turns out a label in English on the back says it’s just fine. In fact, there’s no real copy protection when playing on the Mac, as I was able to copy the raw aiff files to my HD, as well as rip AAC and MP3 versions (for my iPod of course!). If you’re a Kraftwerk fan, go out and support these aging pioneers :)

I picked up CM2 as well in Shibuya. Love Cornelius. Though this is all remixes which have appeared on the remix’ed artists’ labels before.
Ooo, hadn’t heard that Kraftwerk were back at it! Nice, thanks!
