The Western and Japanese Relationship
Japan Today has an amusing article on why it’s more common to find Western-male/Japanese-female couples rather than vice-versa. A few choice quotes:
Western girls [are] more demanding. I think that is what puts most [Japanese] men off. They would rather be pampered. For example, I spoke to a Japanese couple recently. After they got married, he gained 10 pounds as he didn’t have to do anything anymore…Japanese guys realize that if they want a Western woman they can’t be lazy.
(Who wants a lazy partner anyways?)
The most difficult thing about an international marriage is that one of you has to live in a country that’s not your own. I think some Western women are put off relationships with Japanese men because of that.
(It’s hard enough for Japanese females to live in this sexist country, I’m not surprised Western women would rather leave.)

speaking as a westerner in the us ,,i dont believe that western women really take a marraige seriously. they are quite used to divorce as a matter of resolving many situations. marring women is a mistake except if you want to have children,other than that it really doesent make any sense

Im a Western Woman married to a JApanese Man and we have been married for 4 yrs, him being 20yrs older, yes it is hard , marriage is. Communication is hard and its not all about language. I think there should be more information for Westerners in Japan and especialy women, most western women living in Japan are classed as hostesses or entertainers, what a joke!
My husband married me because my husband wants to be a success, he doesnt want to get fat, fat is not healthy! Is getting fat a good thing in your relationship, how many people put on weight after marriage, and get divorced later cos their partner has changed into a fat monster and unattractive, its ridiculous.
Marriage needs wisdom, logic and love plus many other things, marriage is hard but you must want it to work on both sides, he didnt marry me because i am western woman, he cannot avoid that fact but because I understand him and want the same dreams and goals as him just like any other kind of relationship ,right?
People still dont understand that everyone is different.
I like living in Japan, it feels like my home cos my heart is with my husband then i get reminded “so when are u going back home”?
My husband is my soul mate, its rare to even find.
I never think of him being “Japanese” only when i am frequently reminded. its not a problem as a culture thing its an individual thing and it is really out of date!

I’m a Canadian woman chatting with a Japanese man who lives in Japan. Is it normal for Japanese men to be conservative? We chat online everyday for hrs…I think he knows almost everything about me. This entire discussion is BULLSHIT! Japanese men are LEAST likely to gain weight before, during, or after marriage than men in any other affluent nation. According to Forbes, Japan is the LEAST fat affluent nation with the lowest percentage of overweight or obese people PERIOD. Japanese men work very hard to support their families unlike many Western men.
On the other hand, the USA is the FATTEST developed nation on earth with a WHOPPING 74.1% of American men & women classified as overweight or obese. American men were rated in an international survey as the next to WORST mates or husbands by American women. The bottom spot went to Brazilian husbands. American people, men & women, are so overweight & obese because they’re the LAZIEST, poorest character people on God’s green earth. Many European & Japanese people consider American people to be uncivilized, poor educated, exceedingly ignorant White Trash with huge, venomous mouths.
Japanese men especially don’t like American women because they’re too FAT & lazy or have a much, much greater propensity to get FAT as hell, especially after the 1st pregnancy. European women are definitely preferred by the Japanese male to American women. In fact, most non-American men prefer European women over American women PERIOD.

I’ve just fallen in love with a japanese Man, and we’ve get along pretty well. For we both try to communicate before obstacles arise, and we both are willed to
make compromises. I know now what I have been missing in my previous relationship, a man who loves me for who Iam and does not wanna change me at all. He’s also westernized. However, it is not always easy but Iam motivated.
