6 IPOs on Friday

Maintaining a surprisingly robust momentum, 6 companies did IPOs (Initial Public Offerings) on Friday — a record for same-day IPOs. Market pundits have been worried that IPO quality may be diluting, however, it looks like demand is still strong for new stock issues, and all 6 newly public companies enjoyed closing prices higher than their IPO price. The top performer was SK-Electronics, whose price rose 260% over its IPO price of JPY700k. ***Ed: Kind of weird how the Japanese IPO market is in hyperdrive, while the NASDAQ is just starting to recover. Almost tempting enough for foreign day traders to turn their sights on Japan.**
