Japan needs a reality check

A recent article by Debito Arudou/Dave Aldwinkcle shows how far behind Japan still is in race-relations. In fact, Japan is “…the only OECD country without anti-racial-discrimination laws.” And upon finding that quote, looks like he just spoke near where I work. Damn. Wish I could have made it. Even some friends who visited for 6 days commented how uncomfortable they started to feel with the homogeneity of the population.

And for anyone who thinks Japan is a crime-free nation, the family car was broken into last night. The only thing stolen was approx 70,000yen (~$725) worth of highway coupons, but it’s still a considerable annoyance. The local police are useless as usual, especially considering having been told similar incidents have been occuring around the neighborhood.

Digg! delicious
