20 volt turntable difference

So after watching Adaptation yesterday at Cinema Rise (which I highly recommend)[1], I felt a sudden urge to pickup a few LPs. The movie ended around 9:15pm, so I was skeptical any of the Ciscos in Shibuya would be open. As luck would have it, the Trance/Techno one was, so I popped in and picked up an Underworld “Dark & Long” (the dark train mix is nice), and Pirate’s “Leaving the Sun”. When I threw them down, I remembered I was running my 1200M3D, which was purchased in the states, without a transformer. Now most items purchased in the states run off 120V, and more often than not will work fine in Japan’s 100V environment (though with a little less “oomph”); the risk-takers will do it vice-versa, hoping the only difference is an extra heat-generator :) But closer inspection of my spinning table reveals that it’s actually running a hair slower than 33 (or 45). So now my dilema: I’ve been thinking of picking up another 1200M3D, but it would be rated at 100V. Do I just use the pitch adjusters to remedy the discrepency, or is there anyone in Japan wanting to off-load a US one? :)

[1] I have one extra ticket for anyone interested; the last showing is on the 31st of this month. First poster can take it if they come pick it up.

Digg! delicious
