The Sony Cybershot team has finally produced something for the general consumer market that is sure to compete with Casio’s Exilim line — the Cybershot DSC-T1. At 5.1 megapixels, 2.5″ LCD screen, 3x optical zoom and only slightly larger than the Exilim S3, this will be my next bonus present :)

I mentioned a diary entry by Brian a few days ago. In another recent one (10.19.2003) he details an account of going out on the town and drinking his way to courage in chatting it up with some gals. But it was his last line that amused me:
Soon after that, the two girls [...]

Glocom has a great opinion essay by Haruo Shimada (Professor, Keio University) on how reforming the housing market is a key component to Japan’s economic recovery. One fantastic point in particular:
The fact is that a house is not an asset with durable value in Japan, and this is the real cause of the slow [...]

Applicants came out in droves: 215,000 people in 13 cities auditioned for 16 slots.
That’s for a new show coming soon. How long before we see something like that in Japan? What are the reality shows here?

Bubble Generation pointed out a slew of good articles, two in particular from the Economist. The first is Risk management for the masses, by “Irrational Exuberance” author Robert Shiller. Accounts on how technology seems to be increasing the inequality gap. Here’s an interesting “solution”:
It will also be possible to create for individuals [...]

Apple and Pepsi are doing a little promotion. So smart. Single songs as prize material.
Update: Mercury News has a short article on the ironic affair.

Paul has a good picture from the recent blogger’s meetup. We all gathered at the Ebisu Beer Station, which had a second floor I didn’t know about the first time I had been with an ol’ Laox buddy. Yup, I still occasionally hang out with my cohorts from my Sony sales days in [...]

Robert McKee

The June issue of HBR (yes, I’m a bit behind) has an interesting interview with Robert McKee, (in?)famous storytelling coach. If you’ve seen Adaptation, you may remember his role in the movie. I have never met McKee, but I found his portrayal in Adaption rather amusing — an agressive and antagonistic character, though [...]
