This is loooong overdue, and I apologize, but I *finally* got around to posting my photos from the Tokyo Car Show 2003 onto the server. It was definitely worthwhile, if nothing else but to salivate over expensive toys. The crowds were only a little out of control, and I wish I had gone [...]
Some of you may have heard about NHK’s Project X TV show. I’ve only watched one episode I think I mentioned a while back — about “Tron”, the operating system even more widely used than Microsoft’s Windows line. In fact, apparently the U.S. gov’t blocked it from entering its borders for fear of [...]
Yet another data point that Japan is getting slapped around by the U.S. — both politically and economically. This could be very interesting over the next decade - U.S. manufacturing and low-skill jobs are being outsourced overseas while at the same time American companies are essentially hiring foreign workers through corporate buyouts. Think you want to meet a nice Japanese girl interested in starting a family? Good luck.
Yes, yes, I know. I really need to get back to Chinese. It’s coming. Trust me.
So Japan, how does it feel to be the bitch now, eh?
After all the buying, buying, buying Japanese companies did overseas in the 80s, seems they’ve finally realized (well, are at least publicly acknowledging) that they’re screwed, screwed, screwed. Foreign entities are making their moves:

Idei’s plans to gradually ‘westernize’ Sony are starting to solidify.
Sony currently assigns seven grades that are closely linked to employees’ years of service. It takes an average university graduate about 10 years to attain the highest grade. Under the new system, it is possible for a capable worker to achieve the top grade in a [...]
