Sapporo Snow Festival

Made it to Sapporo for this year’s Snow Festival. Although cold, it wasn’t excruciating; in fact, some were crazy enough to be wearing high-heels! Saw lots of sculptures, as expected; from ice buildings, snow buildings, Snoopy and even an amazingly detailed triceratops. Some really strange creations too. The buildings were most beautiful at night, as were the ice sculptures.

The first day was wrapped up with some serious crab dishes. Spent the second day meandering around Otaru, a coastal town about 45 minutes away. Climbed inside an igloo, which was kinda grimy inside. Had some time left the second day so we checked out the Self Defence Force sculptures, which were mostly straight slides for little kids. Got to enjoy a piss with a view before hopping on the plane home.

Digg! delicious
