Amazing – it even came with reviews!

For fine Italian cuisine in a very quiet, “personal” atmosphere, do yourself a favor and check out Beccaccia. The portions are good and the price is reasonable (just south of expensive – but this is Tokyo, and for the food + environment, hard to beat). Corkage fee is 3,000yen, if that’s your thing.

Beccaccia has only 4 tables, 3 for parties of 4 and one for a party of 2, so reserve early.

Had a fantastic evening at Nobu in Tokyo. Never been to the Manhattan one, but if the menu is anything like it is here, I can see why reservations are tough to make. The rather inconvenient location here though made for a quiet and patron-sparse evening. Dewi Sukarno sat at the next table over though. That was a … site.

Four stars. This was for a family outing, but if you’re going on a date, request one of the clothed tables. You’ll be glad you did.

In no particular order. Some places are pricey, so proceed with caution. Your and my definition of “romantic” may vary, but suffice to say I like quiet spots, sufficient lighting, and impeccable service. A good wine list and zesty food are obvious musts. Please recommend more in the comments!

But I guess if you’re the type that views shopping as therapeutic, you get twice the bang — happiness for a slimmer waist, and the shopping high for new clothes :) I like my tailor, but not to have pants fixed that were made by him to begin with (there should be a 6 month policy!) But at least the excercise is finally paying off; -18lbs so far. Must love the Japanese diet (just not the “air”, ugh)
